Thanks (geto and MK too).
A moody shot to sum up how gloomy it is here right now (we do see color over here though)
Could someone share a bit of advice on what settings are usually what you'd want to use with these distances and outdoors?

i haven't shot landscapes yet but i would imagine high f/stops like f/16 to f/22 to get the whole frame in focus. a wide angle lens would help also.

we'll have to agree to disagree
its one step in photoshop . . . but what it really comes down to is whatever is easiest for you.

Can anyone recommend a solid camera to buy for travelling? Im planning a 6 month trip around Brazil later in the year and have always meant to buy a good camera that allows for great shots but can take a few hits (Im pretty rough with my gear for some reason!).
Any help would be great, and once again, awesome pics (the latest pics by Poisonous make me want that dino even more!!), PM if need be!

i'm a canon junkie
here's a real general rundown:
you can't go wrong with any of the G series or the powershot series. they take phenomenal photos, and they are very intuitive. all you need to decide is what level of camera you're looking for. I have the powershot digital elf, which is a low cost solution. One step up from that is the G9, which a friend of mine just bought, which is a whole lotta bang for your buck, but he's in love with. and thennnnnn . . . you have the SLR's . .. of which, (i think we can all agree) the rebels are fantastic
