Sideshow Collectibles gave collectors 1/4 scale resin statues..
- Collectors were amazed!

Prime 1 Studio gave collectors 1/3 Resin statues..
- Collectors were even more amazed!

JND decided to push things further and add glass eyes, real-hair, silicone skin..
- Collectors socks were blown clean off!

Q. What is the next logical step for a new company entering entering the foray with plans of upping the ante? ..could it be animatronics?

Maybe this isn't quite what i was thinking of.

When the robot smiled, it took me back to Terminator 2 and Arnold attempting to smile/be taught how to smile.

A. Doing all of the above...at a lower price!

That is known as wishful thinking.
The only place prices are heading is up.

The only way Sideshow Collectibles are managing to stop 1/4 prices from climbing too is by reducing what's in the box. No swap-out portrait for example.

Hmm, I remember a slightly different reaction from "collectors" - some referred to these products as "Barbie Dolls" - some complained about the use of silicone, etc. etc.

I think JND still has a healthy following of "naysayers" - but I guess that comes with the territory.

Cinemaquette were doing 1/3 scale Silicone and real hair statues 15 years ago.

Yes JND have used glass eyes but what they are producing is not revaluationary.

Yes the head sculpts are better but most companies have come on leaps and bounds over the past few years

They look the same as they did 15 years ago. What I mean by that is that the statues were criticised for they likeness similarly to what Sideshow human likeness were at that time

Fast forward 15 years and several JND statues mainly Ledger Joker, Harley Quinn and Selina Kyle are criticised by those who prefer other companies offerings.

Maybe someone who owns a Cinemaquette piece could release a YouTube video showing how the silicone has held up 15 years later.

Edit: I just searched YouTube 'cinemaquette 1/3 statue silicone' and up popped Indiana Jones, and he looks nothing like Ford.
Other than the likeness issue, the piece looks fine. They have released a Reeves Superman, and the likeness looks iffy.
As for Bruce Lee, it looks nothing like him.

Yes, the likenesses were off and that?s being kind. But those were issued over 15 years ago.

At the point of time they were the only company solely doing third scale statues using silicone and real hair. At that point in time those collectors who loved Cinemaquette products had their socks completely blown off. Their non human pieces such as T-800, TX and predator are still today considered Grails by many collectors

My point is JND are doing nothing new but have massively improved likenesses. They are many collectors who love JND. Equally they are many who do not see the likenesses in some JND pieces or like silicone and real hair
