I absolutely love Star Wars and Marvel (and really like LOTR) universes, and select characters from each that I would and have bought statues of, but there's something special about the Harry Potter universe that I enjoy watching repeatedly, too.

It's probably the combination of it being the most 'normal' and 'possible' fantasy fiction, of the major franchises, combined with a near universally approachable coming-of-age story, and the boarding school charm is it's own appeal. Goblet especially, followed by Azkaban are ones I'll watch whenever I can.

I haven't even read the books, but just from the movies, I'm amazed how clever Rowling was with the naming conventions, and creating a universe that exists parallel with our own. As a science geek, it's a fascinating take that mirrors the growing understanding of and theories for extra dimensions that we cannot observe currently.

Plus, the musical themes and score is awesome...

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 9/10

There was a dementor on a train. Everything turned to ice
A werewolf
A tree that kills little blue chirping birds
A hippogriff, totally cool

Great story. I liked that very much

I loved all Potter movies but this one. No villain in the 3rd part to speak of. I thought it was very boring. Only one, I only watched twice. I would give it a 4/10. But the other 7 are 8/10 or 10/10.

Shin Godzilla (2016)

8/10

This is the 1st Godzilla movie I have watched. I liked it.
CGI including breaking buildings, flying trains, tsunami type effects looked good. The military vs beast taken seriously scenario works well.

Initially I popped in the disc that featured the English dubbed release. After a couple of minutes it made sense to swap the disc for the Japanese with English subtitles disc.

godzilla vs kong - 7/10

enternaining pop corn flick, some of the world building they tried to do just seemed really bizarre to me. like did anyone else wonder if kongs ancestors were really intelligent and skilled with that temple they built? regardless still a fun watch

Mortal Kombat (2021) - fun action and fight scenes, I think I would have liked the movie more though if I wasn't such a big fan of MK because then I wouldnt realise how badly they butchered the story and some of the characters - 6.5/10
