This is the original sculpture of The Argonath, created before the DVD bookends. It was never released for sale, but it has appeared in LOTR exhibitions over the years, so many hard core LOTR collectors are very familiar with it.

We did not intend to launch this piece. However when we secured a new LOTR license in July, we received many, many requests from collectors to release it (and a few other unreleased environments) for sale. You can see various threads and voting panels on the LOTR environments in the Shadow and Flame forum : http://www.wetacollectors.com/forum/...splay.php?f=68

So we really have launched this in response to requests from our collectors.

Also, the DVD bookends were modified slightly from this original sculpture to fit in the DVD box.

We hope you like it

Cheers

Tim
Thanks for the explanation, Tim.
I'm looking forward to seeing what else you've up your sleeves.

I have to say that the 'fixed', more film accurate arm on the piece makes the piece that much better to me.

Hi Oddball

Thanks for you interest in Weta's LOTR line.

We are all very excited to return to Middle-earth. We just finalised our new license in July and are now starting to release a range of premium collectables crafted by the same artists who created the originals for the trilogy

We are launching a range of the most authentic LOTR collectables, hand crafted at Weta Workshop for the premium collector, such as LOTR Swords from the Master Swordsmith - Peter Lyon http://www.wetanz.com/anduril-the-ma...ion/from/brand

We have just launched a new range of mini shields, which are modeled by our senior model maker David Tremont http://www.wetanz.com/numenorean-min...eld/from/brand

And due to customer demand we have re-started our line of LOTR Environments, beginning with The Argonath, and followed by Bag End

There is more coming, you can keep up to date by signing up for our newsletters http://www.wetanz.com/insideweta/newsletterand listening to our webcasts http://www.wetanz.com/weta-cast/

Cheers

Tim
