How do other pleather pieces from Sideshow fare? I've heard horror stories about Hot Toys and even Prime 1, but have never had issues with them myself. Low humidity in my neck of the woods.

I'd stay away from pleather from any company...

You have horror stories and successes. I still have the OG Batgirl, Pinhead, Red Skull allied charge, OG Batman, Modern Batman and I just got Robin


All are still in the same condition as when I got them.

Ah, we all have our geek blind spots. I'd say follow Josh-a-tron's suggestion and check it out on HBO/HBOmax (if you have it).

For all the mixed media warnings, I always take that into consideration. It is a concern, but so far my mixed media pieces are perfectly fine (and a few are pretty old).

It seems to depend on your local climate. Low humidity works out best for these things.

No matter your situation, these things are all a gamble for long term sustainability. Try to factor in all the odds, make your best choice, and may the odds be ever in your favor!

For those of you that haven't had problems...have you tried touching and bending the pleather?

In my experience if you don't touch them they appear "ok" but once you manipulate the material it starts flaking off.

When I clean mine yes. But I also use a type of cleaner conditioner on pleather. It helps keep it intact.

I've heard of a few folks having problems.

Some Hot Toys figures also seem to get hit harder than others. For instance, I've never had issues with pleather except with the Hot Toys 2010 Predators figures. The armor straps on most of those -- regardless of climate -- peeled within a few years' time.
