...in the Music Industry, they call them "Covers."

Randy Travis covering Brooke Benton's "It's Just a Matter of Time", METALLICA doing (what they thought was) THIN LIZZY'S "Whiskey in the Jar", there's a great hard-to-find version of "Across the Universe" by a band called LIGHTMYTH and NIRVANA seemed to prefer to do their tributes in pairs. Either the MEAT PUPPETS' "Plateau" & "Lake of Fire" or THE VASELINES "Son of a Gun" & "Molly's Lips" are all pretty good...
