You're right. The eyes, brows and eyeshadow are WAY off on the 1/4 Tweeterhead.

None of the portrait form P1, DSC and TH is perfect. It is a matter of give and take as well as personal preference.

For 1:4 scale, TH seems to be a better choice in terms of quality and value.

For 1:3 scale, P1 has the best paint job and details. However, whether the same quality would be found on the production piece is yet to be seen.

This is why the debate about looks is rather specious when it comes to the production piece. P1 simply can't be trusted to deliver.

Right now, it's a pointless contest about who makes the best prototype - but considering the prototype isn't up for sale - who cares how good it is or isn't.

Prototypes are sculpted and painted by geniuses as one-off pieces strictly for promotion. The production team at the factory must have a hard time to reproduce the same super fine quality.

After long hesitation between the Prime1Studio version and the Darkside version, I finally ordered the Darkside in 1/3 format for 1399 € delivered in Europe.

Why this choice ?

The silhouette is more elegant, the hand with the claws on the outside, the simplicity of the suit, the 2 heads whose expression is more natural, the bunch of 3 cats, the base is well thought out with the 2 removable clown heads on the corners reminiscent of the film. I really hope that the production will be faithful to the prototype.

What I like less about P1 is the expression of the face even if the eyes are hyper realistic, the look is beautiful only from a certain angle. The suit is hyper detailed, too much for me which makes it too sophisticated, less sexy. The height of the base too high, the luminous writing almost invisible at a certain angle, only one cat, only one head, the color of the costume rather bluish than black, the whip too long, the whip of Darkside is bluish if you paid attention.

The delivery costs at P1 have become absurd. The adjustment of delivery costs almost doubled for the Zatanna Deluxe because 2 boxes instead of one, not a very good surprise.

Looking forward to receiving the Darkside version in 11/2023.

But honestly the Spock is kind of what I'm talking about. The skin while it has many different layers of colours, it still very much looks just like paint. Whereas on some other pieces from Queen, Prime 1 etc, their prototypes and sometimes even their production pieces can have an almost realistic look to their paint apps (even when they fail on likeness).

Though admittedly, they may be assisted by their type of material used, translucent resins, PVC, vinyl etc.

And as someone who pretty much only collects movie pieces, I really did want a Spock, but I personally wasn't satisfied by the paint app.
It looks rough photographed but in person it looks life like. Almost silicone.

Spec Fiction has her up now - warning - they're doing like Darkside in that if you PO before 12/31 she's cheaper. Both prices go up after 12/31.
