Would anyone happen to know, who to contact about getting an Adam Hughes commission?

Hey Jesse,

Sorry my inbox was full but I've cleared a bit of space there now

As BC and JG have already mentioned, there are 2 ways to acquire a con illustration from Adam. One is to go to a convention he's attending, get to his table as soon as possible, put your name down and hope that your request is selected (Adam jumps around the list at random). Prices are $200 for a head and torso and $400 for a full figure piece.

The other way is to bid on one of the guaranteed ebay auctions which Adam and Allison run prior to a number of conventions which they attend. However, the winner of the guaranteed sketch has to show up in person at the con to pick it up. The last few auctions have seen the guaranteed sketch go for between $2000 - $3000 (and more in some cases).

Unfortunately, Adam does not accept "at-home" commission requests. Best,

Royd

Here's Adam's current con schedule for 2011:

March 4 - 6........Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle, WA
March 18 - 20......C2E2 in Chicago, IL
April 1 - 3........Wonder Con in San Francisco, CA
April 30 - May 1...Boston Comic Con in Boston, MA
May21 - 22.........Big Wow Con in San Jose, CA
June 3 - 5.........Heroes Con in Charlotte, NC
July 20 - 24.......San Diego Comic Con in San Diego, CA

(Note: It's highly unlikely that Adam will be sketching at SDCC as it's just too busy).

If he's not sketching, what is he doing....??
He hasn't been on a regular title since Reagan was in office.
Do many people actually show up with 20 year old Justice League and Maze Agency books?

If you haven't been to SDCC and seen the large queue at Adam's table which is present throughout the 4 days of the con then believe me when I say that it's quite mind-boggling to view! As a result, Adam has no time available to sketch at SDCC.

I have seen this each year that I attend SDCC and I have not seen the same numbers of people queueing elsewhere unless its another "A" lister like Jim Lee. I'm sure that others who have attended SDCC (Ken?) will have made the same observation about the madness that surrounds Adam's booth.

People bring over statues, posters, comics (books with covers illustrated by Adam such as WW, Catwoman etc.), trading cards, copies of Cover Run etc. for Adam to sign. They also purchase copies of his annual sketchbook, prints and occasional originals which Adam has available for sale at the booth.

Adam often sets aside time (ie an hour at the beginning and end of each day to sign) and has also been doing quick sketches in the front of copies of Cover Run for a $5 donation to various charities (lately for Japan relief organisations but also for prevention of animal cruelty).

Best,

Royd
