Buying the JLA Build-a-Scene? Superman comes unglued!

Just wanted to alert anyone else buying the Superman - Black Canary component of the JLA Build-a-Scene diorama... the Superman statue on mine fell off the base and out of the styrofoam the moment I opened it.

I caught him, thank goodness, but some idiot had tried to glue the Man of Steel's foot to the base *after* painting the sole of his boot! The glue didn't hold, of course, and at least one fellow collector who bought this piece reported the same thing.

Dinah, Batman, GL and all the rest seem OK (though it's a little disquieting, wondering if any of them is only very imperfectly held in place)... so if you buy any of these components, especially the Superman / BC, you might want to open the packaging on a pillow or something, and have your sander and epoxy on hand.

Same thing happened here. i bought Batman and wonder woman which were perfect. Then bought superman and Black canary and they came broken. Both off the base. I returned it. since then, I gave up on completing the set. Unless i see it a a store and pick it up there.

Borrow money from a pessimist, they don't expect it back.

I had to return mine to my lcs because black canary's high heel shoe was coming off the base. I could have glued it but with the amount of money that we pay for these pieces I decided to exchange it. Black canary is more prone to this problem because of her high heel shoe.
