DCU "Supergirl" is cast: Australian Mily Alcock
The big casting choice for the DCU initial slate arrived and looks like Gunn is going with Alcock. If you're not familiar she played young Rhaenyra Targaryen in "House of the Dragon" on HBO set in the world of "A Song of Ice and Fire".
At first glance I'm on board, I could see it working as long as two major aspects I wasn't thrilled with in the attempt in "The Flash" film. Hair and costume need to be far better and actually look like the character.
Given Gunn has cited source material my hope is the DCU feels much more like the comics than recent attempts at the universe.
Here is a mock up a fan made of Alcock in character

I was personally hoping for Meg Donnelly. I didn't much like her in House of the Dragon, and I was more into Emma D'Arcy when she took over. But, as with all roles, I guess we'll see what happens.

Much of this is trusting Gunn and him looking to the comics as inspiration (novel idea!) which gives me hope she will actually look like Supergirl.
I'm generally not that familiar with actors and I'm definitely not a casting director. I've been burned out on DCEU and have cautiously optimism about DCU, with this project being the big one for me.

Yeah, it should be interesting. I mean I think Milly has the potential to look like Supergirl, but other than HOTD, I'm not familiar with her work.

I am cautiously optimistic with this casting. I liked her in HOTD.

Not familiar with her and do not watch House of the Dragon but I think for some roles sometimes it is nice to bring in someone who is not a household name or who is lesser known (though I am sure she does have a large fan base).

she is cute, but she looks like she is high as hell in almost every picture of her i've ever seen.
