It's actually not that bad if you break it into sections. And I've come to believe that I'm better at painting things than people. There's just a lot of little things in several different sections. LOL
My plan is to do the AR MOS, The Grim Knight and then tackle these two beauties. Grim Knight arrives Friday. MOS ships any day now.
Let the fun begin!
UPDATE: Lady Spawn is close to wrapping up, just need to detail the face and hair, got the cloak on today and roughed in the hair.
i love the direction you took with the lady spawn piece, very creative and looking beautiful
congrats on the newest acquisitions, that grim knight is awesome - im surprised you managed to get that i figured they would be long gone by now. excited to see what you do with these
The Grim Knight arrived today and he is every bit of expected awesome. And he has a ---- ton of assembly required. I have to figure out where all the parts go, including about 20 little teeny parts inside that little plastic bag. I'll put him together and display him unpainted until I finish the AR MOS kit.
But he's totally badass.
So I'm getting some ideas down as they're going through my head for prosperities sake before I lose them. I don't want to do the basic rendition of the artwork which is pretty much black with some silver touches. I want to bring some traditional Batman elements into it subtlety. The scarf is the cape so it will match the cowl. Keep much of the utility belt scheme, but darker and grimier. I want to make the chest ammo belt his "Robin"...dark green straps, gold ammo clips, red near that center circle. And of course.... Kryptonite tipped shells are a must. Oh yeah.
Lady Spawn is done, and I realized since this is my first original piece...it needs a backstory!
"Leetha, Daughter of the 7th House of K, is a sentient and constantly evolving neural parasite hosted by Al Simmons once he became Spawn. Made of necroplasm, Hellborn parasites like K7-Leetha usually bond for life with their host's central nervous system. However, Al became so powerful as Spawn he expelled the parasite and without a host, she reverted back to her earthbound form. Now she wanders, bearing the mark of Malebolgia...searching for her next host as she clutches the last remnants of her powers, the red cloak."
LOL I should get a job writing Hallmark greeting cards.
Alex Ross Superman has shipped and hope to have it in a few days!
While I'm waiting for Superman to arrive I started to putz around with the four BFGs on the GKs back. Vallejo metallics gunmetal gray is excellent...I put it on kinda wet and sloppy and the imperfections give it some character when it dries. Next I'll detail all the black parts, then the silver parts, a little drybrushing, a few washes... trying to pull out as much detail as I can.
