Absolutely it was her F-up. She's desperate, I'm sure she regrets it, knows she looks the fool and is pulling the ultimate bluff in hopes that it (her face) can be repaired and, in some weird way, she believes she's saving face as the "victim". Idiot.

Even on your face? I can see dozin' off to a butt-cheek tat or thigh or even an arm...but your face? So close to the ear which would be hearing the constant humm of the machine, not to mention the sensitivity of the skin of cheek, and around the eye.
