Figured I'd finally pick this piece up during the BF sale. Now I'm seeing what some of y'all were saying about shipping. Did anyone find out why this piece is so expensive to ship? Its more than double any other piece im looking at, including much larger and heavier ones.

It's been mentioned in this thread that the box is big for a PF.

Box isn’t that big compared to Doomsday XM. It’s like a 1/3rd of its size lol

For what?s in the box I think it?s appropriately sized. They had to accommodate the shape of the base, most bases are comparatively flat or just tall but this one extends both outward and up as one piece. Maybe it?s more so the weight?

Surfer just floated in. Here's my take.
I initially expected Bel/SS Surfer would have been a full board, dynamic pose, but that aside, I do like the sculpt.
Anatomy, paint,...etc, are all good as many have already stated, with the base composition and colours being a nice surprise. The only oddities are the "fused" Surfer inner thighs, & the strange "faded/blurred" paint apps regarding the lower midsection, (almost like SS wanted to tone down the naughty bits?). Strange.
Now, as good as the statue is, I can't help but feel that a few minor adjustments would have elevated (literally!), this sculpt to a new level.
1. The Base is great, but if Sideshow would have added 4 inches of "cosmic matter" underneath the board, therefore raising it way higher, with an even more pronounced movement and flow? Would have been better, and enforce the illusion of cosmic flight. Cosmic flight needs height!
2. The Board is both too short, and a little too wide, diminishing the "board" effect overall. Assuming that the base was in fact elongated, raising the statue by 4 inches, then the board length should also be elongated by at least 3 inches, and made slightly narrower. This would balance the dynamics between base and board, & the changes would help enhance the appearance of movement, flow, & thrust, making the composition way less static. Besides, Surfer needs more board!
3. Finally the pose. If Sideshow would have simply had Surfer's right arm raised horizontally, fingers iconically splayed, palm down? Epic. Would have captured the classic "Behold The Mighty Surfer!" vibe. Would have conveyed even more movement/direction, adding a greater sense of depth to the work, and giving Surfer the impression of immediate purpose. This one, is the one that really p!sses me off!
Still a good sculpt.

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

I agree with you, still like the overall statue but could have been far better.

I really wanted the Nova piece and pulled the trigger and ordered this. $61 shipping for 30 miles away, yikes. Also my Nova piece was not in the box. I am hopeful Sideshow will send me one. The inside box was not sealed, I wonder if I got a return and they forgot to put back in the box?

I get the feeling SS does that quite a bit. That type of thing happened to me once.
