come on now... d&d... 2+2=4 i beat you because your are 3 is not how stories, legends happen. It's flavoless... if it was up to that 2 hobbits couldn't go mordor and throw the ring against impossible odds right. But they did and this's how great stories happen.

Ah, yes, but that's hero vs. villain. This is hero vs. hero, so the situations aren't analogous.
Or maybe this is the problem; for some, anyone who goes up against Batman is a villain?
