THIS is why there is no need for silicone - just get a Master Painter! Then you can have durability, longevity and hyper realism without the fuss.

Inspirational work! This is what statue collecting is really about (IMHO) - the place where acquisition ends and Art begins.

The underlying sculpt has always been there, which is why I've been in no real hurry to sell mine. I suspected a quality repaint would make this one pop, even in an age of hyper-real silicone efforts.

Not sure about the mixed media hair, at least in this case. The way the sculpted one frames the face is still superior I think.

The portrait repaint, OTOH, A++!
Overall, I'm very impressed, and still thankful I have this in the collection.

Yeah the relatively shallow depth to the interior of the nostril is consistent with the production pieces.

I suppose it's possible they may have recast the head and did all their alterations on that copy.

Another thing helping elevate that redo is pushing the side eye more.
It's a minor tweak, but always imbues a little more life and character, imo.

In this shot, I'm very impressed with the lower eyelashes and that separation between the lips.
There is no void there, that's all paint, but it looks like the lips are parting slightly. I've seen a lot of paint jobs on pro pieces attempt that, and very few pull it off well.

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

That's so real it's unreal. I mean that is a killer paint job, that's some serious quality there. Genuinely stunning. I initially thought the first one was a photoshop of Scarlett's face onto it, so I'm very jealous of the skill to do that with just paint! Wow.

That's exactly what I thought when I saw these pop up on social media. The paint technique, in combination with the lights/shadows in the photos... doesn't look real! Err, or is that, too real! .

Forehead does look too large, but I'm thinking that was a necessary part of incorporating mixed media hair.
Had the hairline been moved down, I'm not so sure those fibers would have draped properly.

Otherwise, those fibers do look to be very well scaled to 1/4. I was looking at some photos of a JND figure, and the hair on that was looking like out-of-scale Barbie hair to me.
