Natural lighting in a sense. I control how much natural light hits the statue with black cloth. And thanks for the F-Stop tip but this is the look I was going for. For the close ups I focus one part of the statue and let the rest soften. For the whole body shots I try and get all that I can in focus.

I totally agree. I think pics taken with high F-Stops are very blah. At the mid to low range you gain sharpness and and the blur effect adds a lot to the image.
