Well, it'll be mainly wood splits that I use for cooking, but a charcoal base is a must.

I prefer cooking with charcoal or wood as well, but a gas grille certainly has it's uses. Cooking a quick steak after work is one. Ideally, I'd have several cookers (stick burner, gas, pellet grille), but there's only room for so much on the patio.
I follow a you tube channel where the host does a LOT of different stuff with a Weber Kettle. It's a very versatile piece of equipment!
