I'm honestly more concerned about the slow proliferation of 1/2 scale figures (as this was hinted at being one of the scale options for this piece).....I mean, seriously, what are the companies thinking? And again, I arrive at the conclusion that, somehow, these figures are not being marketed to the "average" collector.
Don't get me wrong, it's great that these things exist....but, I'm just worried that these 1/2 will become the new norm, and 1/3 (which I've just adjusted to from 1/4) has already seen its day in the Sun.

'the new norm'
1/2 scale will never become the norm. Many can't accept 1/3 scale. 1/4 is already expensive/too expensive for many.
Add to that high shipping costs, lack of space to display.

Time will tell. If 1/2 scale becomes the norm (which it won't) i will exit the hobby in an instant.
There is another issue, many collector's find 1/2 scale weird, like having a half grown person in the house
1/6 scale - Cool
1/4 scale - Impressive
1/3 scale - Really Impressive
1/2 scale - Weird!
Can you imagine Spam eating 1/4 collectors making the switch to 1/2 scale?
..they'd be licking dust off the floor

Just have to change how to approach the hobby. I'd imagine the purpose of 1/2 scale and bigger (for us non-rich folks) is to buy only the ones that we really care about, as opposed to buying the entire line. Which freaks out a lot of collectors...
I bought the 1/2 Cap because I love the character/actor, but I'm not planning on getting the 1/2 Iron Man suits or 1/2 Thor that's supposedly coming next year. Even if I wanted to, I don't have the funds or the room. Cap will be my centerpiece.
But if they did a 1/2 Widow, I'd have to buy a wedding ring for it... XD

yeah, that's how I feel. 1/3 drives me right up to the edge of the cliff, to teeter there with a nice big adrenaline rush.
1/2 sends me over the edge. There's a rush there too, but it only lasts until I smack into the ground.

There will always be the market for 1/3 and smaller, but maybe some companies feel that 1/2 scale is the most profitable so they will push that scale? The realism and quality will only get more impressive but we can always pass on the ones that are too large and expensive

I think some companies think about 1/2 scale as they want to offer popular characters but cannot obtain smaller scale licenses, as they are tied up with other companies. XM Studios sometimes off 1/6 as they cannot offer 1/4 or PCS might offer 1/3 as they cannot offer 1/4
Sideshow Collectibles appears to have quite a hold on 1/4 licenses.
Some companies, while they obtain a popular 1/4 scale license, they encounter the issue of limited regions to ship to.

Very nice, finally some shots of the white suit
It looks like they are highlighting her curves in the backside so that's a plus!
