I ended up going ahead last night and painted over the entire boot and the tongue for the statue. Spent about 5 hours on it. I didn't get into bed until late. XD
I tried to just touch up the scuff marks I had on the boot but it was darker than the paint already on it. Since this was the case I just did the entire thing. I'm going to let it set and then seal it later.
It wasn't too bad but the tongue on the boot was by far the hardest part (the part that was initially red). The paint didn't want to stay on and kept wiping with every pass. I had to essentially dab it on with thick amounts to keep it from going away. Once it sets a bit I will take off any excess amount. Once it sets long enough I will then seal it.
I'm actually quite pleased with my first statue painting job. In fact I thoroughly enjoyed it so much that I will do more sculpting and painting as a personal hobby. I've always been into art and I find it very enjoyable and therapeutic.
I hope this helps answer any questions or doubts for those who haven't painted before as it was my first time. Maybe you see something I did that you might find you want to do differently. I'm happy to be the guinea pig this time around.
I hope you are enjoying your statues!
