Amazon / Lord of the Rings
Amazon is planning a staggering outlay for what will essentially become the biggest television series ever made: The Lord of the Rings, filming now in New Zealand, will cost about $465M for just one season.

I’m intrigued because I’m a Tolkien fan, on the other hand I have much skepticism for anything new.

Especially if it's a bunch of made up $#1+ and not based on actual Tolkien books. I want a Silmarillion series of movies so badly but we're getting this series, so I hope it's not someone's "vision" of Middle Earth with a bunch of made up characters that aren't even a part of Tolkien's writings. When is this supposed to come out?

I mean, other than the garbage extended to death Hobbit - I feel that the LOTR movies were damn near perfection. This series has a lot to live up to if they jump straight into what we have already seen.

Yes and the extended editions of all three of those movies cost less than this series.
I'll stick with the films I think.

It doesn't look like anything... Doesn't feel like Lotr. feels like just another Fantasy tv show.
Girl Power ! Girl Power ! Girl Power !!!! It's time for a girl to carry the ring... Is what seems to be like their motto and i'm sick and tired of this Girl Power... After the fiasco of Star Wars. I don't have stomack for another Ray... Big pass. I am glad it's a tv show. I don't like tv shows much, follow them very rearly so i won't be even curious about it. Just a big mega pass.

It's Galadriel and she's cool.
I always wanted a new interpretation of Lord of the Rings. Peter Jackson's films are great but it is more or less the only version we have. That said, not entirely sure how I feel about this. It's only teaser of course, but it has that same modern fantasy quality to it (that I can't explain).

I'll wait before I make judgments. As with anything new in this preachy culture we have, I have my doubts but I'll keep my yap shut until we have episodes that I can compare to the source.
