Watchmen will be f*cking astounding?
That's the word from Kevin Smith who got to see a rough cut of the film.
And just so it's not all about me and my ****... I saw "Watchmen." It's f*cking astounding. The Non-Disclosure Agreement I signed prevents me from saying much, but I can spout the following with complete joygasmic enthusiasm: Snyder and Co. have pulled it off.
Remember that feeling of watching "Sin City" on the big screen and being blown away by what a faithful translation of the source material it was, in terms of both content and visuals? Triple that, and you'll come close to watching "Watchmen." Even Alan Moore might be surprised at how close the movie is to the book. March can't come soon enough.

Well if Kevin Smith likes it, it must be great.

I think Alan Moore wrote about 100 pages of text for each Watchmen issue. It would be hard, I think, to translate all of that into film.
The film will likely be straightforward -- Superhero gets killed, another superhero investigates and discovers (spoiler)....... The rest of Moore's work will likely be ommitted as the tapestry to the tale is quite vast. They'll probably keep the "era of distrust against heroes who have been all but forced to retire" backdrop though.

No, I just have my own doubts about how well the Watchmen story translates into a two-hour film format.
Now, if Alan Moore said it, I might be more convinced.

What's KS' track record on fan-boy opinions? Did he love the prequels? Did he grudgingly like them despite their faults? Did he hate them?
I guess I take this as a good sign, but I don't know how seriously a good sign it is yet.
