Maybe they get the "Best non-US grunge" award.

Statue is not bad, I personally thought the movie was good but the source material is better. So I tend to like the comic more than the movie. I will say I was super pumped when it came out, went to a special screening and nabbed a J O Barr signed movie poster.

Why? Wearing sneakers makes the materials stretch and bend and they last longer, compared to never being worn and the material hasn’t stretched and bent over time so it became rigid and crumbles easily.
I think this is partially why your old clothes still “work” yet these statues’ clothing falls apart. Could also be the specific materials, but a large part is statues just “stand there” and we don’t regularly touch them. A few short later you do, and the cloth crumbles.

I used to work for an NBA team, and had players give me over 100 pairs of sneakers. I had them mostly in totes taking them out on occasion. After coming back from overseas after a few years and them having not been handled, many of the soles (the foam part) had completely disintegrated.
