I think switch out wings are a must here. I'm sure plenty of collectors would complain about the display height with wings sticking straight up like the Silvestri cover, but I'd be all for it!

Agreed. They should have the wings like the cover but also wings that are closer to sort of wrap partially around her body kind of like these:

Wish I could scan my comic pages in. There are way better images than the Silvestri image that is easily found on google. I hope, but highly doubt, that XM tracked down any of the actual comics to get a true idea of what Angelus has looked like over the span of the comics.
The image that comes straight to mind is a 3/4 profile shot where she is flying - there is another woman behind her - she's got a great pose, strong features, and looks amazing.
