Belle (2013) - An illegitimate mixed race daughter of a Royal Navy Admiral is raised by her aristocratic great-uncle.

Pleasant period drama. Predictable even if you don't know the story of Dido Elizabeth Belle. 6/10

The Counselor 8/10

This was panned by critics and movie goers alike, I think it has like a 35% rotten tomato rating but I really liked it. Especially the gritty deaths and the fact that there is no happy ending for the "hero".

La VĂ©nus ?- la fourrure / Venus in Fur (2013) - An actress attempts to convince a director how she's perfect for a role in his upcoming production.

I liked the play so it was interesting to see Roman Polanski's adaptation. I'd give it an extra point if I was fluent in French and could better pick up the slight difference in how Emmanuelle Seigner played Vanda the actress vs. 'Vanda' the character in Thomas' script. Nina Arianda made that distinction a real strength in the play, but in this movie, it just all sounds like French to me. 6/10
