Repainting a crappy paint job

Hi all

I finally relented and picked up a DFE Rogue bust (allbeit quite cheaply) and was wondering how you go about repainting?

Do I need to apply an undercoat? What kinds fo paint is best used? etc?

Can anyone help me out on the basics?

When i used to repaint the bowen bust i have, i, used a solvent (nail varnish remover) to remove all the paint from the original bust. else i used Gamesworkshop white undercoat ,and used GWS paint for the colors.
Better remove the paint than directly apply an undercoat.

Strip the paint off with oven cleaner. I use Jeyes Kleen Off, let it sit in a plastic bag with it sprayed on for a day then wash it off with water and a tooth brush. Then give it a coat of Halfords White Primer then you can paint it with any paints you want Acrylics, enamels or oils. Like Captain America said above strip off the paint first.
