The list of former "Star Wars" actors throwing their hats in the ring for "Episode VII" continues to grow.

The latest star to join the roster of hopefuls? Samuel L. Jackson (aka Mace Windu).

"I'm not surprised but totally geeked by the idea of there being more 'Star Wars,'" the actor told E! News on Friday. "It's like, okay, Obi-Wan was dead when episode four started, so maybe everyone thinks I'm dead and we'll find out what happened to Mace Windu."

The "Avengers" star's schedule is swamped -- he has three films currently in production - but when asked if he'd like to return for "Episode VII," the actor gave an enthusiastic "Hell yeah!"

"I can come back as one-armed or a one-handed Jedi that's still around that didn't actually die," he said. "I could do that or be a ghost hologram. I don't care!"

Adding, "I just want to stay associated with the franchise. Not that I won't, because I've been in three of them."
As for why the actor is drawn to the sci-fi world, Sam said he loves the concept of life in other in galaxies far, far away.

"I just always loved it. I always loved the idea of it, that there's this whole civilization out there somewhere else that's just as much fun and different and diverse and wild as we are," he said.

So hot on the heels of the zombie of Mace Windu, now we have this from Ewan McGregor.

Do either of these guys (Sam and Ewan) realize that Star Wars Episode IV took place 40 years after Ep. III? Does Ewan realize that Ben Kenobi was played by Alec Guiness in Episode IV because the character had aged 40 years? Does Samuel understand that his character was killed? Those lightning bolts aren't just for show, Sam!

Is George Lucas going to be associated with the new Star Wars?

40 years? I think you are mistaken. Luke was born at the end of Ep 3 and was maybe 18 in Star Wars IV.

Yep. 18-20 year gap between EP III & IV.

Which makes zero sense when you look at the age difference between Ewan McGregor and Alec Guinness...

Maybe Obi Wan Kenobi's alien race has an extremely short life span...lame.

he was dealing with 2 suns on the harsh desert planet of Tatooine for 20 years. That will definitely age you.

My bad, You are right. I should have remembered that Luke was much younger than 40 years old in Episode IV, I just remembered something about 40 years, maybe it was 40 years from the start of Episode 1 to the start of Episode IV? Or maybe it was 40 years from the end of Episode III to the start of Episode VII, maybe that was it. I'm all confused.

My main point was that if Ewan Mcgregor is thinking he's going to be asked to play Ben Kenobi at any time after Episode IV, then Ben Kenobi's ghost will be getting younger which is just silly.

Ewan and Samuel just need to let Star Wars go.

My hope is if anyone returns it would be Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Chewie possibly, and that's about it. Maybe R2 and C3PO just for a quick appearance.

Not sure I follow your logic.

Obi-Wan's approx. age:
Episode I = 26 years old
Episode II = 36 years old
Episode III = 39 years old
Episode IV = 59 years old

Ewan McGregor was 28-34 between the releases of Episodes I-III & Alec Guinness was 63 when Episode IV came out. I don't see those ages as being much of a stretch.
