It also looked too wide. It appears they have fixed the width and lost something in the process other than width.

Sideshow should include both portraits. Let’s not have another Psylocke fiasco.

He looks sad, and the arms/torso look awkward at that angle. I don't know if it's his position or if the cut on the top around the shoulders is off. Not anywhere near as bad as the first one, but I'm still unimpressed with it as it is. Maybe more pics will show it off better.

I actually liked how it looked originally. His face was indeed too wide, but i didn't mind it. There's something awkward about the piece now, the body looks strange and the face is very gaunt. It has changed the whole mood of the piece to me.

While the original two Superman movies were slightly before my time, I grew up with Christopher Reeves on VHS as my favorite superhero by the late 1980s - Superman 4 was one of the first movies I saw in the theaters.

I'm not sure how many of us "older" collectors there are who crave owning this statue but I am definitely in the demographic that snatches up anything with Christopher Reeves attached.

Recently, I picked up that somewhat subpar 1:12 Mezco figure, the Iron Studios statue and the art print from SSC. And of course I own the Hot Toys and that not so great SSC PF statue.

GenX and the Millennials seem to be at the forefront of creating this demand for this nostalgic wave of collectibles. I don't recall this amount of quantity or quality of merchandise existing prior to the 2000s (or even 2010 to a certain extent).

Sideshow has decreased the size of almost all of their bases - even Silver Surfer's base is tiny for being a "Black hole." The surf board is chopped.

All recent releases, Flash, Jean Grey, Cyclops, Hawkgirl, Call to Arms Superman - They shrunk the entirety of the new Bane by half! Smaller statues period.

Doesn't SSC just pass on the cost to the consumer for shipping or charge us more for the statue itself?

While I do appreciate the elaborate bases (especially from companies like Prime 1), I sort of like the minimalist approach better now.

The bigger bases take up more space and add a lot of height to the statue, which make it more difficult to fit them into display cabinets. Not to mention, there are "moving parts" involved so it's more prone to damage happening.

Were it not for space reasons, I probably prefer the look of the elaborate bases more. But after you've been collecting for so many years, the statues/figures add up.

I recently ordered the JND 1:3 WW84 statue - that base is about as plain as you can imagine but I like that it does not detract and clearly puts the focus on Gal Gadot's sculpt and her shiny golden armor.
