Sideshow Statue Selling Question

I wasn't sure where the correct forum was to ask this question but since it is a Sideshow Statue I figured I would ask here.

I purchased the Thunder Cats Exclusive Mumm-Ra statue when it first went up for PO. I was originally planning on collecting the whole line but Lion-O's statue kind of bothered me and I cancelled that one and never cancelled Mumm-Ra. Anyways, I received it at the end of December in 2018 and never opened it.

I want to sell it now as I have no reason to keep it. Would it be better to Open it and take pictures and post it on Ebay, or dont open it to keep it as "New" condition and list it?

Ive never purchased a statue that was new in the box from a seller on Ebay so I feel like I should open it, but figured I would get all your opinions.

Thanks,

-Mike

Yeah people prefer them to be opened first unlike action figures. From my experience anyway. I’ve been collecting since 2010 and have never had someone looking for only a never opened statue specifically. Especially with sideshows kind of stuff that’s more mass produced. People would rather know ahead of time if anything’s broken or has serious paint flaws in it.

People generally want it opened first, especially from a company as untrustworthy as Sideshow.

Also if you have not seen it yourself, buyer can claim it came with large paintflaw(s) and maybe ask compensation for nothing.

Carefully unpack/repack and make hres video for your own safety.

Open it for sure before selling. Any unused statues I placed for sale on eBay I always put in the description "Opened once only to inspect for any damage and pictures, never displayed."

For your sake, I'd recommend you open anything and everything you get from SS as soon as you can. Though they're mostly good, I have had to exchange, return or get credit back for somethings. You don't want to be outside a window for any of those if there is something wrong. Though they're mostly good, It does happen unfortunately.

Def take it out carefully and try to put it back as close to how it looked, take tons of pictures/videos, make a description of any and every flaw. I've had to learn that the hard way as some collectors are so over the top they will want to return it for a few imperfections that it came with or they will use it to get a discount then accuse you of being deceptive.

If you can try to sell it local that maybe safer, cause there will be more chances of shipping damages if its across the country. Always get the insurance. Also be aware of selling international can make it that much more difficult. As if you accept a return, shipping it back from overseas will be expensive.
