Jack Vance dies at 96
One of my favorite authors. He was amazingly prolific, and a sci-fi/fantasy world-builder extraordinaire. Rest in peace, Sir.

Bummer. Vance was one of the inspirations for the Dungeons and Dragons system of magic.

Yeah, his connection to D&D is so cool. The short stories in the first Dying Earth collection are like summaries of game modules.
