PS: The buddy who told me about this saw the scene in a PA theater back in '81. Either there were international versions circulating with US versions OR every version was altered early on. Either way, this is quite the mystery!

I saw it in 81 and consumed Raiders information as most fans have ever since. Never once heard of this. I am very skeptical and think memorys are not serving well.

Was it perhaps from an illustrated version or some other alternate source and people are getting it confused with the actual film?

According to my colleague, this was the last scene of the actual film.

No I remember it from the film at the theatre. There are other discussions and blogs on it. Here is one from another board
