It's honestly just for total destruction or complete loss of the box, IMO.

You mean like how I just got an email from UPS asking for the same 8 picture I sent last week.
The cycle continues.
I know this is a lost cause but if they're going to waste my time I might as well waste theirs and get some entertainment value out of it. Could you imagine if this was Prime 1 Terra. $14K out the window.

It only cost an extra $25. I do it because I feel it's the right thing to do and gives the buyer peace of mind but if it's only useful in very narrow situations why bother.
That's why I agree with Iko, take the loss, brush your hands and move on.

Yeah, actually, I wasn't suggesting to not get insurance... it's not that much, and if the box gets runover, or lost, they will pay out, so for that slim chance alone IMO it's worth it.

I didn't even bother trying to file a claim in my case even though the box was beat up and had shoe prints all over it.

Well after a lot of phone calls, sending the same pictures multiple times and waiting with zero communication UPS claims actually came through. They paid out more than what the insurance was to my surprise. Took about 2.5 months. I'll leave the numbers I used below in case anyone gets into a mess like this. The basic UPS number is automated junk and even though they say they'll contact you not once was I contacted by them unless I had to complain about pictures not going through and that was from the claims agency. I spoke to about fifteen different people through UPS and only two were useful. In the end they were still blaming me for QS packing, whatever.
You can setup a claim online, but I was having issues with my info going through. The first number just ask for damages, and they'll help set the claim up. Once that's done you can use the second number till there's an outcome. Be persistent.
1-887-289-6418 (UPS live customer service)
1-800-430-2055 (claims)
