I don't understand, does he mean he selects who can buy a piece? Because if they made something I desperately wanted but couldn't buy due to invitation I'd be really bummed.
I wonder why they'd even consider that.

He put it out there as more a passing thought so didn't really go into detail. Yeah, not a good move even just suggesting it, but given the reaction I don't think you have to worry about it.

It's a really really bad idea.. for even suggesting it. There are other ways to reward prestige members. Selling a statue exclusively to selected people is totally bias move and would put the business in a bad way.
