Rational collector maybe, rational person is a totally different story.
To most people we’re totally insane for spending even a fraction of what some of us do.

True, but you could say that for any hobby at the high end, but as far as this piece I see plastic toys and Lego sets of this that cost more than $200. Thinking this should be $200-300 is just laughable to me.

I don't disagree.
I'm still kicking myself for not getting that 7500 piece Lego Millennium Falcon when it was on sale from my local store a couple of years back. I think it was $700-$1,000 AUD at the time. Usually x 0.60 or 0.70 for US cost.

EXTENDED DEADLINE AND REDUCED GOAL TO 2500
Dear Star Trek fan,
At TOMY, we are very passionate about bringing quality products and collectibles to our customers. We also understand and appreciate the passion of Star Trek fans, and the collectibles they want. For these reasons, we have decided to extend the deadline of the pre-order period for the 32? Star Trek Enterprise die cast metal replica to July 24 at 9PM PDT.
In addition to the extended deadline, we have also lowered the target from 5,000 backers to 2,500 backers so we can bring this amazing collectible to the fans who have supported it from day
