I was quoted 1K for a single character commission at the 2006 NYCC.

Perez is now $500 pencil, no backgrounds.

Dave Finch quoted me the same for a Ghost Rider on his bike because he said the bike was a 2nd character.

Really, wow. I got lucky.
I commissioned my Cap through George's friend, colorist Tom Smith who is a regular at my local comic shop.
It was just before JLA/Avengers and George had some down time. $100.00 for full body, $50.00 for a head-shot.
A DJ friend of mine had him do a Wolverine scratching on turntables with Wonder Woman hanging over him. It was cool, I wish I had a pic of it.

Everything has to do with timing. The past 2-3 years have seen tremendous increases in prices, for both commissions and published art.
I got my Perez commission (Galactus, Thanos and Surfer heads, inked, in one piece) for $195 back in 2002. I got my Colossus from Art Adams for $300 back in 2003 (he now starts at $1500-$2000 for a similar piece).
$100 ain't what it used to be

I'm now looking into getting something from Geof Isherwood who only charges around $100.00 for an inked single character.

Thats insane! I remember seeing Adams at a con when I was a teen and got him to sign all my Marvel wave 1 cards plus a few comics. He seemed annoyed that I kept giving him stuff to sign while he had a huge line, lol. I still have the comics and cards.
