From what I've read, the latest version of the 360 with the cooler running Falcon chip, quieter disc drive, HDMI, and better overall cooling haven't had any major failure rates since they hit at the end of last year, and certainly nothing like the massive failure rate that earlier versions had, so maybe they've finally gotten the problems nailed down. I hope so anyway, I just got a new model 360 today...

Ok, technically it's not mine, and I didn't even pay for it, it belongs to the household, but I have full access, so that's all that matters...

I just got two red rings the other night, first time ever I've seen that happen to my 360.

You guys might dig this... related to this very problem.

Just had my 360 picked up by the UPS guy, as soon as he saw the package he said "xbox is it?" ! I asked him how he knew, he said he'd picked another 4 up today alone! this will be biting M$ in the ass for a while to come (and so it should!)
Trouble is there's a risk I won't get this 360 back in time for christmas so i've ordered an elite which comes bundled with fallout 3 and fable II, figured i'd need a bigger hard drive anyway when I start using the game install feature of the new dashboard.

nah this is MS, they just pump out more crap thats cheaper or lower prices. people just keep buying it and same story over and over. untill people vote with their wallet, MS will never make quality products.

What's the return policy on these, then... is it handled through Microsoft? I got mine at Best Buy (I think).. wondering how I go about getting a replacement, or if I should bite the bullet and just go buy a new one.

for the RROD it's 3 years (everything else depends on your country) just register on xbox.com and you can sort the return through them, you don't need the original receipt.
