Congrats on getting a D3!
The low light shooting is phenomenal and the speed will blow you away. The more I use it, the more I appreciate it, it is a great camera.

Nice picture. How do you do that by making a black and white picture with color mixed in. Sorry for the noob question.

Well it is actually pretty simple. I used to wonder that myself before I try it out:
1 convert the original picture to b&w
2 copy whatever colored part you want from the original picture
3 copy paste it in the b&w version
Voila!
Here is another sample of my cat Milla:
PS: you can do this with paint.net, you dont even really need any fancy program such as photoshop

Thanks cloakndagger for the tips. I have the photoshop, now I just need to buy a Nikon which I've wanted for a while now.

it is the lowest of the current Nikon generation. If you can afford it, get the Nikon D7100, a much much better camera.
Also, www.kenrockwell.com is a fantastic easy to ready website dealing with photography.

Thanks for the tip. It's true if I'm going to get a camera I might as well get an extremely good one. I'll definitely look into the D7100 or even better.
