To the best of my recollection there was no compensation of any kind from DF for this piece. So they have no claim on it of any kind, other than it was started when they still had the license and finished when they didn't. Intention to produce with them gives them no rights to the piece if they didn't pay for it. Not that I am saying that they stiffed Clay or anything like that, the agreement just came to an end before this was finished.

He definitely wants these pieces produced. The problem at this point is finding someone who wants to and has the rights to produce them.

I`d buy that the colors look just like a hard hero piece.

MR could produce this as well, as they seem to have that type of projects going on... dst too actually.

The payment -if any- obviously is one of the factors not discussed in the interview.I don't know if its 100% determinative but it would play a huge role. While that info cuts against DF owning the rights, I don't think the have "no claim" as any attorney will come up with arguments. I would say they don't have any viable claims or claims likely of succedding. Interesting stuff nonetheless.

Upper Deck might swoop in and scarf this up, lol!

Seriously...the Thor piece is bound to see the light of day somewhere.

That Wolverine Moore Diorama variant of the regular release...

Clay has the rights to this piece. Promoting the piece or selling it to someone else wrongfully would be a foolish thing to do. He's been in this industry long enough to know that. So, anyone thinking that he might not own the rights to that sculpt can dismiss it.
There are some interested parties right now to produce this piece. I think Clay will weigh his options and do what is in the best interest for his company. As I said, parties. I would venture to guess that he will see how he can work with these companies and whichever one fits best, he might take them up on the offer.
So don't throw this idea in the closet as of yet. You don't know what's around the corner and who's to say that a forum exclusive doesn't come from it? Hey, we can all dream, can't we??

I love this piece, as well as the cover art, but, and this is a big but, Chrome the Surfer and change the background, or just leave it like it is?
The Thor figure is perfect, maybe the best Thor sculpt out there.
Anyway to get this would be great!!!
One of the best sculpt's of one of the greatest cover's ever.
