Iron Studios X-Men MiniCo statues
Hi guys,
I just saw these MiniCo statues on the website of Iron Studios and I was wondering what you think of them?
Website: https://ironstudios.com/search-results/?q=xmenminico
Wolverine:
Jean Grey:
Storm:
Gambit:
Psylocke:
Beast:
Rogue;
Cyclops:
These PVC statues are relatively inexpensive and because of teir smaller size it's easier to find a spot for them at home. Based at first sight I think I like Cyclops, Gambit, Beast and Psylocke best
but what do you think?

They're cool...kind of like the GG Skottie Young pieces. Space friendly and well made. Not my style, but I think they'll sell well enough.

To each their own, but for me these faces are just all wrong. This is not how you do chibi, or make something cute. The design is all wrong. I've found this with a lot of Iron Studios's attempts at this. Not sure who's in charge of designing these, but they should really work with an artist who excels in this style.
For comparison, Nendoroid is famous for doing this, and when you compare to iron studios doctor strange, he's just weird looking. Proportions aren't right to be appealing or cute.

Perhaps IS is doing their own thing? I fail to see how "the design is all wrong" in this case. It's all stylized versions of the characters.

Agreed. Plus they seem to sell well so they must be doing something right.
As for the topic at hand, I love the way Beast and Cyclops are done. I think the essence of the characters is captured perfectly in those two figures.

I won't be getting the X-men, as they're just not my thing, but I do have a couple of their MiniCos and will probably get more.

I actually prefer the one on the right. They are doing their own style, not chibi.

I like what IS is doing with these. I’ve thought about picking up a few of the Avengers ones but never did. Trying to spend money on just the 1/10 like for now. But the x-men ones are cool as hell and they form a sweet diorama if you buy them all.
I MUCH prefer what IS is doing vs those huge babyhead figures from beastkingdom or wherever that strange is from. Talk about proportions being out of whack. Ugh no thanks.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

These are really popular 'cos they're pretty cheap and well-made. I know the Stan Lee one sold like hotcakes. I'm not into this style though but I can see why they sell.
