Just want to start getting my ducks in a row if that comes to pass.

And if it does happen, I'll need to economize in other areas- like this. I won't be able to swing the statue plus a pro built case for it, so DIY it's gonna have to be.
I hear you!

To be fair, I'm thinking I will need to bite the bullet on this topic. The way I see it, its like buying a really expensive sports car, and parking it in a run down old shed.....part of the cost of ownership will have to translate to storage (and in our case, display). These pieces are expensive, the busts especially so.....so keeping them in premium condition is a must.

I wouldn't recommend bankrupting yourself to buy display cases, but I'd be considering if I can really afford to own the pieces if I wasn't prepared to take the hit for display cases as well.

The way I see it- a fancy, top-of-the-line case is something that can be saved up for and purchased a little down the road, if need be.

What I want to put in it, OTOH, is a more time sensitive purchase. At some point, I may not be able to get it at all.

As far as DIY being the lesser option, it is and it isn't.
It likely won't have the full fit and finish of a professionally crafted unit, but it will be made to order because I'd be making it to solely to fit my particular needs.

I also like crafty projects.

You're probably right.

These "specialist" companies will, no doubt, rape me for the privilege of providing (essentially) a wooden box....

As they say, a fool and his coin are easily parted.....maybe they'll at least have the decency to stick a Rolex logo on the side of my box.....you know, so I can justify my idiocy as I cry myself to sleep

Exorcist...

These are awesome!

Who made them?

Do they come in standard sizes or are they completely custom to fit each figure?

I must admit, I'm more excited for this "new" license they mentioned. I hope it's something more diverse then the usual fare......I'd be depressed if its Marvel, Star Wars, or LotR. Those IP's have been done to death (IMHO).

I'd love for JND to go all out, even if it means more limited ES and subsequently higher prices. JND could really be the Vacheron Constantin of the statue world, ultra exclusive, ultra expensive.......but, just no more comic characters

What else?

Maybe this:

IDASEN by Ikea

I own four of them.
the usable depth is 40cms ( 15,748in ). The usable height is 119cms ( 46,85in ). You can consider a shelf for 1/3 and the possibility of presenting 1/6 for example with the remaining space. Made entirely of sheet metal, glass sliding doors, sheet metal reinforced shelves. Steel shelf supports.

Could you leave out the feet and put two on top of each other?

Not impossible. If you are a good handyman, and with a good saw, you can cut the feet cleanly. Or you can put a Besta on it. This is what I did with one of the Idasen, to exhibit 1/6. Same width, same depth. And esthetically speaking, it's not that bad.
