I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

Personal customs code/EORI code
I was about to preorder something from Sideshow. Apparently if you live in EU you need to register with your revenue office for EORI code with your revenue office. Sideshow treats you like a trader now. Or am I missing here something? Anybody from within EU order recently from Sideshow and had to register for that?

I am not sure about this either and have not gotten an answer, but try to put in the number customs uses in Ireland for what you want to order?
That is what I think is correct, so don't quote me on it.
As I understand it the worst thing that can happen is that you get charged the wrong amount and they adjust it later.
Have yet to try it out since it appeared though, but going to place an order soon and can update you on how it goes, if you don't want to try it out yourself.
It is clearly is miss on sideshows part. Custom in my country say THIS.
"There are only three exceptions to the requirement for an EORI number:
Private individuals who import or export goods for their exclusive personal use."

I recently ordered and got delivered a piece from them and I wasn't required to do that, so I'm afraid I can't help you.

I ordered just before xmas and that wasn't necessary but it is now. Just add something to the basket and try to proceed further. It will ask you to validate the address and update it with personal customs code. Apparently it's for every customer from EU.

yep, pretty much. Clearly I'm not a trader, and yet they insist on providing the number. We shall see what my revenue office says. I'll update you guys.

My order was at the end of January, so at least back then it wasn't necessary.

So that was the response from the tax office... I did apply and received the code. I still think thats a bit overkill, but what are you gonna do.

Thanks. Was more simple than I made it apperantly.
For private persons its basically country code followed by your own birthday. Took 2 min to do online.
Problem solved
