I'm not going to pay hundreds shipping it back, you can be sure of that.
Don't quote me on this, but fakes and counterfeit products are not treated in the same way as defective or unwanted products. If it is proven to be a counterfeit, the buyer is not under any obligation to return the product, as it is effectively an illegal item. There might be a requirement to demonstrate it's destruction, prior to ebay issuing a refund, but I doubt there would be any obligation placed on the buyer to pay return shipping on such an item.

In that case you have to take it or ship to an approved authenticator and pay for them to inspect and write a letter to eBay, they are not going to just take your word for it.

Maybe, I have no idea.

I think it's just another factor that demonstrates that buying expensive collectibles from a Chinese seller over ebay is just a bad move.

Is this a fact, or your opinion?

I don't know if that is still their current policy, but it used to be. These days they probably don't care and just have you return it, which in the case of a Chinese seller should have to give you a label or send money for return shipping(which is risky also)

Curious - why do you see a seller sending money for return shipping as risky?

You are sending the product back before you get a full refund. Risky.

How is that any riskier than when you buy a product?
You pay upfront before receiving it.

eBay is the moderator, so they make sure you get the refund once other party receives.

Shady China seller has you ship the item back and then it probably never gets a delivery scan so you are SOL, ebay does not refund you and you have no product.

Hmm. So I should ask them to use a prepaid UPS label? If they prepaid a reputable courier, then they cannot deny receipt?
