General Opinions on 1:4 Action Figures
I've started to become aware of 1:4 Action Figures, and I know they've been around for a while - as an offshoot of the 1:6 Action Figure genre.
The attractive thing about them is the price - as these tend to be around half the current asking price you'd expect to pay for a 1:4 scale statue. They normally come loaded with extras, and I'm seeing some impressive likenesses. Ok, these figures are not in the same league as say JND, Queen or Infinity - but they're offering better likenesses than say, Sideshow, Prime1, Tweeterhead, Darkside, Oniri, etc.....and again, at about half the price.
Before I jump into spending money - I wanted to grab your thoughts on the drawbacks of these figures, or positives (maybe I missed something) - and how you see these figures fitting into a statue collecting environment. Is it something you have considered or done?

I'll more than likely get the 1/4 Mando from Hot Toys. The drawback for me is the fabric. I prefer all sculpted. IMO he's the best 1/4 version of Mando currently out there.

only downside for me is its sometimes difficult to get them in a natural looking pose, especially with no visible joints. some are easier to hide joints than others but theres still always a compromise when posing; you usually end up with a very basic museum style pose. also personally ive never liked any of the bases these figures come with, the only one i currently own is HT boba fett 1:4 scale so i plan on making my own base for him

I was looking at the DAMTOYS - TERMINATOR. It's not perfect in terms of likeness, but it's close, and the price is very right.

I do prefer the look of the 1/4 scale NECA Turtles over the Prime 1 set (which I had).

This, also about the bases, I can't stand (pun intended) crotch grabbers or some other base set up that holds the figure upright. Statues don't have this issue, but if poseability is your primary concern then figures are the way to go
Light up features are also annoying on most figures, obviously you won't have just one button on the base
For me, it's fun enough finding the optimal angle/place to display, and for the statues that offer switchouts, that gives me all the options I want/need, I used to collect figures but a great looking statue is better IMO

Agreed. They are superb in their likeness.
I wanted to display them (along with the other 1/4 line) around a small poker table playing cards
