Yes, he is... Demithyle is his name. But now there are two, or rather one seems to be "retired" (Demithyle) while the other has risen to take his place - Mortighull.

no mortighull is demithyle. look at the artwork where demithyle's face is getting shatterd in pieces and look at morthighulls face.

If your theory is correct (which does make sense), a recreation into something else still translates into two different characters, hence the two names. Furthermore, Demithyle is there, along with Mortighull. Perhaps another indication of two separate characters.
