Paint removal from a statue

Hi, I've owned a replica of Barad during I bought from Danbury Mint many years ago. I've already repainted it once, because I hated it's original paint job. Well, I want to do some more work on it and I want to try to remove as much paint as possible and start from scratch. What would I use to get it off? I'm almost possible without harming the piece?

If you use acetone, it's best to do it outdoors and put on a respirator mask.
