Star Ace Ray Harryhausen Skeleton from Jason and the Argonauts

I've just received my Star Ace Skeleton from Jason and the Argonauts.
I wasn't keen on the pose of the figure, as they never stood in this pose in the film, but I ordered one anyway.
In the film they had their sword arm down by their sides.

After unboxing the statue and placing the sword in its hand, I liked the pose even less, as the sword is very distracting. From a short distance away the sword is actually Infront of the skeletons face.

I think I knew immediately that I would have to mod this expensive statue.
I sawn through the sword arm at the elbow joint, which was easy enough at first, but then I hit metal. It has a steel rod running through it, so I ended up having to use a Dremel with a cutting disc.
Once the arm was split, I used car body filler and carefully built up the elbow section of the upper arm. The forearm didn't need as much filler. Using a file, I shaped the ends of the arm sections so they mates together in the position I wanted and then drilled a hole in both arm sections for a new steel rod.
Once together I mixed some paints to match the skeletons colour and painted the filler.

Here is how the statue looks now.

Really nice modification, keith.

Please post about it on the original thread for this piece.

looks great.

I was upset that there wasn't an economical way to build a skeleton warrior army.

this is a cool line but i cancelled all of my POs and pulled out aside from the Cyclops model kit. I will pick up the Kraken Kit at some time. As awesome as all these pieces are they are expensive all things considered, but they all do look great.

Thanks.
I looked for a Star Ace section but couldn't find it at first. I'll add some pics to it when I get home from work.

Yeah I also wanted more of these to replicate the scene in the film, but they are way overpriced. Wish they did a model kit version of the skeletons at a much lower price.
