I dunno, maybe a bit harsh but I see what you mean

I feel like the market for 1/2 scale is way smaller than 1/3, and I get why.

Just like life size market is smaller than 1/2, usually the larger the piece the smaller the market.

Looking back and forth between this and stills from the movie, the likeness is not bad....not bad at all. I think price will play a role in the success of this piece. If they want JND money, they're going to be sh*t out of luck....but, if it's in the $1.5k - $2k range, they might find some willing customers.

I just wonder if LotR, as a license, is still relevant?

For sure, though I think life sized busts are becoming very popular these days.

Have you ever looked at the pricing for 1/2 scales?

The ones from Prime 1 were at $2,000 to $2,100 when they went up for preorder in 2015/2016. So no way is it going to be any lower than that. Heck even Sideshows very compact Spider-Man was priced at $2K.

More recently Queens pricing on their 1/2 scales have been quite reasonable in my opinion. Their more recent Captain America was only priced at $2,115, and their Aquaman that I just received in hand was I believe $2,369.

The Aquaman is the closest match to this piece, and imo it’s probably more involved, so I expect a higher price.

It’s odd, but over the past 6 years collectors seem to have ‘accepted’ the 33.33% to 50% increase in the prices for 1/3 scales and 1/4 scales, but when it comes to 1/2 scales not so much. Heck these newer 1/2 scales are so much better than previous ones as they now have silicone, rooted hair and glass eyes. All of which can double the price over the standard polystone ones. Just look at JND, or any of Queens or Infinity’s life size busts over non silicone ones.
