it's a weekly struggle for me AIC vs Soundgarden.
This week AIC won out, i enjoy Soundgarden's discography as a whole the most.
you ever see the movie "SINGLES". it's a funny RomCom based in the early 90s in Seattle against the Grunge Scene backdrop. Eddie Vedder, Chris Cornell, Soundgarden and AIC make appearances. I still get excited when i see them in the flick.

they ushered in a movement with their friends from Seattle and they were the generals of the army. Guns and Roses was the biggest band in the world in the early 90s, there is much debate that Nirvana was bigger, and a big part of me agrees and i love(d) G&R. there's a funny 40-page thread on a forum about this topic...interesting read. That whole " Nirvana killed the hair metal scene with one song"is an interesting discussion...i think part yes...and part no...good conversation but it speaks volumes to what they did.
My Seattle "Grunge" Outliers:
Best Single: Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
Best Album: Pearl Jam - Ten
My Favorite Album: Alice in Chains - Facelift
Best Band: Alice In Chains
Best Front Man: Chris Cornell - Soundgarden
Best Guitarist: Jerry Cantrell - Alice in Chains
The Only Front Man Left: Eddie Vedder - Pearl Jam
Best Side Project: Chris Cornell - Audioslave
Biggest Band: NIRVANA by a mile
Most Longevity: Pearl Jam
Best Song from a Soundtrack: Stone Temple Pilots - "Big Empty" The Crow Soundrack
...how about that for getting back on topic

It is incredible that Vedder is the only front man still alive...wow.

Best Band: Alice In Chains
Best Front Man: Layne Staley - Alice in Chains
Best Guitarist: Jerry Cantrell - Alice in Chains

Biggest Band: Pearl Jam

nice list.
i remember when i heard THEM BONES for the first time, i almost pooped my pants and then right into Damn That River...holy moly.
Layne was unbelievable. just incredible. especially on Facelift, but i think Chris Cornell was an alien.
and i absolutely love Stone Temple Pilot's album: CORE. That record is NO JOKE. When ever it's sunny and like 70 something degrees i go outside with my Bose Bluetooth and crank it up to 10 and blast WICKED GARDEN & PLUSH, those songs just make me feel good and like old times when everything wasn't so weird.

Lordy - I didn't think about that til you just said it. Sad and sobering, but it's fascinating to see how he has evolved.

This.
There’s a video on YouTube about sneakers. Someone grabs a 20 year old pair of Jordans that were never worn, he smudges the midsole with his finger and it just crumbles.
Same pair of shoes from 20 years ago that had been thoroughly worn still held up despite the natural wear over time from wearing shoes.
Why? Wearing sneakers makes the materials stretch and bend and they last longer, compared to never being worn and the material hasn’t stretched and bent over time so it became rigid and crumbles easily.
I think this is partially why your old clothes still “work” yet these statues’ clothing falls apart. Could also be the specific materials, but a large part is statues just “stand there” and we don’t regularly touch them. A few short later you do, and the cloth crumbles.
