My Mai arrived here, and oh boy what a mess, at least with my copy... Sadly, the FB photo is a pretty accurate representation of the finish on her skin and hair - basically, it's WAY too glossy... I don't know what happened here - the prototype photos definitely show her with a much flatter finish, so I can only guess that the factory just ganked the finish for the production pieces. It's very disappointing, and a real shame too - I actually love her design and have no problems with any difference in her pose from the prototype, but the glossy finish on her skin just ruins it
I literally compared her finish to every other figure I own, and she is the ONLY one with a gloss on her skin... You just don't do that Kotobukiya.
My shots of her actually downplay the gloss on her skin because of the diffuser on my key light... I took the diffuser off for the last shot to try to show the effect of the skin gloss.
As for my copy, I'm taking the airbrush to her this weekend and putting a flat finish on her skin and hair - I've literally never had to do that to a new figure before, but here we are... I will post some shots of her 'corrected' finish when she is ready. Anyway, I hope these shots will be informative for you guys - I sadly can't recommend Mai as she is right now
