It depends on the carpet, but I think that cabinets are more stable on wooden or stone floors. (standing is better)

I have carpet on mine, but mine is currently an upstairs bonus room. I plan on selling the house within the next 5 years and I was told if a family with kid buy it, they wont want carpet on stairs. Carpet dulls the noise of up and down and stomping up stairs.

I have a set of really nice wood grain porcelain tile I bought about 800 square feet of 3 years ago. I wanted to do the entire house, but I deployed and when I came home it was discontinued. So I have a lot to do a room or two, but not enough to do my whole house, so it sits. When I buy my forever home, either I'll build a building (if I get some land) or put it in the basement if I move somewhere that supports basements. So that will be my forever collection room floor. For now, carpet.
