Mortal Kombat Scorpion Classic Statue

This is confirmed to be Klassic Scorpion 1/4 scale from Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.

Sculpted by John Clearly. The full reveal will be at San Diego Comicon Convention.

This is part of the classic series of MK statues that will be produced over the coming years from PopCultureShockCollectibles. Expect to see favorites from Mortal Kombat 1, and Mortal Kombat 2 as confirmed by Jerry himself. Classic Sub-Zero from Ultimate Mortal Kombat is also in the works to accompany this statue for the ultimate dio of two of the most iconic MK characters of all time.

Like you guys this is the line I've been waiting for.. Classic - stoic poses - mixed media - plain(ish) black bases - pure class. Though I will get 1 or 2 more MK9 characters, I will back the classic line all the way - I can't imagine myself passing on any, unless the sculpt isn't up to standard (and with the talent behind them I highly doubt that)

I 100% agree for the Klassic line

Klassic line = plain black base or black mk logo base
MK9 (modern) = detail and busy bases (love Kitana)

The only reason he looks skinny is because of his skin tight pants, but thats what the costume looks like in MK3

That I think is the reason they are not doing those bases anymore (which is better moving away from that anyway--it was too plain). Even if you look on the Shao Kahn 1:2 bust they are doing, they do not have the MK dragon logo on the base like the Scorpion 1:2 does.

Well its definately Scorpion (between wolvie and galactus) And Im happy with the colour tone, classic yellow indeed not bling bling gold.

As for next to it, are my eyes mistaking me, or is that a Sub Zero 1:2 bust? Looks awfully small to be the 1:1 just previewed. Unless Scorpion is elevated a bit, which looks to be case.

Scorpion is elevated on foam so is probably 23" high. 22" is standard life size bust height.

You can see scorpion is sitting on a higher base. The statue is sitting about 4" off the stand, that's why it's making the bust look smaller.

I'm really greatful to PCS for bringing us classic Mortal Kombat. Thank you so much for giving us this. Will definitely be ordering it. I was expecting a bit more mixed media - like maybe foam or something for the yellow part of the gi for example - but that could look tacky on a statue, and the mostly sculpted route brings out the musculature better. I'm sure the outfit is just a proto for the con, but there are a few tiny differences if you look at the UMK3 outfit: http://oi49.tinypic.com/xpbprc.jpg

I wouldn't mind seeing the headsculpt with a bit more detail where the outline of his mouth is (like the digitized actor) - I think it was MK2 that was more box shaped? and there is also a black line/ring going from his nose to his jawline. The main thing for the outfit for me is the bottom yellow "square" could be a bit taller vertically, and the top yellow "square" a bit shorter - more squareshape (if we were being anal you could also say top "square" shape has an inner black ring toward the edge, forearm black wrap goes past the guard to his elbow :tongue: ) - but the proportions of the yellow "squares" is the only thing that looks a little off to me.

But honestly it looks great. I'm just adding input on the attire because I think it isn't finalised? But I'd get it as is :tongue: that last pic rocks

Everyone knows that I much prefer the more modern incarnations of MK but even I cannot disagree with this being a phenomenal looking MK statue. I am absolutely amazed at how great this came out.

I think its a great idea that the Klassic are going for museum style poses and not necessarily a pose where Scorpion has to show his weapon (get over here thingy). I am interested to see what is next in store for this line.

John, tremendous work! Could I make a humble request? If you are working on Mk 9 pieces, could you d your best to keep the bases from getting too big? Or maybe pass that along to the other sculptors?

It is not perfect and could use some fine tuning but I am very happy with it so far and would love to own even this version.

It looks to me the mask was made closer to how Scorpion looked when actually fighting someone. That version is slightly different and does not have the more pronounced lines in the mask as the one pictured above, the "before fight" version.

The only small improvement he needs is the pointed edges of the vest and the 2 black line on the face mask. Everything else looks phenominal. I can wait for this.

For sure we need a classic sub-zero to match Scorpion ASAP. I think most of us interested in this line would buy them as a pair in a heartbeat.

Plus it was their (official) debut - epic characters to bring in. Also I think with the MK2 ninja outfit it would be cool to see a tailored stitched costume - I think that's the best way to match the look of the attire and it would give it more of a real world look (which is especially suited to MK).

Ya, but the whole deal of Scorpion is that he was a spectre in a yellow costume (For cowardice) mocking the Lin Kuei (Who in my eyes are the real deal ninjas).

Reptile was a secret boss fight in the pit and Ermac can't really count as he was a glitch and wasn't integrated until UMK3.

Don't get me wrong, I like the ninjas, but MK went way OTT with the palet swapping. MK9 is cool, as they all look unique.

But I'm a sucker for classic as everyone knows, so MK1 and MK2 are still the most definitive look for the ninjas IMO. I still don't get the costumes for the ninjas in UMK3 (They make no sense, not "ninja" in any way of the word)??

Still not too keen on anything post MK2.. but ya, I'm old like that haha.

I don't know, to me, since Jerry went with MK3/UMK3 for the classic look of Scorpion, then that kind of sets the precedent for how all the future ninjas should look too. I don't want to display MK3/UMK3 Scorpion with say MK1 Sub-Zero and MK2 Reptile. I would want Sub-Zero, Reptile and Ermac all to be in their traditional ninja garb circa MK3/UMK3 but just in different poses with their different colored eyes.

I hope Jerry will just stick with UMK3/MK3 for the classic looks for all the characters who actually appeared in that game and only look to MK1 and MK2 for the characters who weren't in UMK3/MK3 like Raiden, Baraka, Goro etc. because I've always thought that of all the 2D MK's, MK3/UMK3 had the best look for the characters. Very gritty and comic book esque. Of all the versions of Shang Tsung for example, I prefer MK3's look most of all. That looks like and evil sorcerer to me. I wouldn't mind a one off old man Shang Tsung from MK1, but if it came down to only one version of the character than MK3 Shang Tsung would be the one for me hands down.

For sure we need a classic sub-zero to match Scorpion ASAP. I think most of us interested in this line would buy them as a pair in a heartbeat.

Plus it was their (official) debut - epic characters to bring in. Also I think with the MK2 ninja outfit it would be cool to see a tailored stitched costume - I think that's the best way to match the look of the attire and it would give it more of a real world look (which is especially suited to MK).

The only thing about doing that is I dont think it would work with todays collectors. The win poses for the classic characters were a bit corny, probably because the classic win poses were from the 90's and are out of date now. And the car is a Lamborghini Avendtador. 400,000.00

I love it that Reptile is coming too! Hopefully you will use the Ultimate MK3 ninja body too and just change positions slightly like in the game. It's done and super easy to release multiple ninja statues from it. :) Same sculpt, new color equals new statue!!!

Yeah, we'll see Reptile, but he will not be Scorpions EX. He's too big of a fan favorite and will sell loads as a standalone and he has no relation to Scorpion.

To me it looks like classic Reptile.. the teeth, the snout, etc.. it ain't no later rendition, thankfully.. he seems to have just modified it by giving it the "hood".. I welcome this liberty, makes the statue look in unison and looks less corny than a straight-up gecko head

lol well I was just randomly guessing that because I noticed they all had the same peg size and angle when Jerry was sculpting them:

Of course, it could be a coincidence, or he could have still been sculpting and tweaking (and just using that as a 'template'), but I figured if it were the one statue, he hasn't mentioned releasing Reptile yet.. so maybe Reptile was a PCS exclusive, throwing another rare statue out there kind of thing.. Personally I'd like Reptile to have his own pose, but I'd still buy it for sure.. but yeah my other guess is a skull head (no mask)

Only messin, hence the reason I bumped it myself.. this isn't SSF where you get crucified for doing that.. more conversation and anticipation the better IMO.. this is my most anticipated reveal of the year - the beginning of the klassic line. I was a little underwhelmed when I saw UMK3 sculpt from SDCC, on one hand, I was so greatful we had klassic, on the other - felt it was a little 'cartoony', so it didn't have the impact (at least for me) it should have. Sounds like Jerry has rectified that. Really can't wait. Full reveal of MK9 Shao Kahn is my next most anticipated. Then, maybe the full reveal of Kitana's ass.

Awesome, definitiely has more realism to it.

Kudos for going back and revising this. (classic) Mortal Kombat of all lines really needs that realistic look given the games used digitised model. Nice to see the first piece in the line have the Jerry Mac touch like SF's line began with. I've been waiting years for this dream line. Thank you

Yup, I have Ken, Ryu, and Zangief. Cannot wait to add these classic MK statues to the display!

We should be getting UMK3 Reptile soon! Cannot wait to see it because this Scorpion looks perfect now. Love the changes to the the mask and eyes.

and the coolest thing with Reptile is it looks like we are getting a human Reptile.. I hate when Reptile is only depicted with his "lizard" head.. I've always wanted a classic humanoid Reptile, but switch-out is an awesome option.. looks like Jerry is doing the MK line right

Agreed. Classic ninja Reptile with mask is best. I will switch it out from time to time though!

Im loving this as well... major props for going back and editing this piece. It looked good during comic con and it looks 10 times better now. I didnt order the first scorpion statue but i will be ordering this one for sure.
